ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF NOTE

To the best of my knowledge Andrew Pellicciotta is in rarified air. He led MP in rushing yards, receiving yards and points in the 2024 season. Andrew Mackrides (2003), Troy Gallen (2013) and Zac Fernandez (2016) also accomplished that feat. Lonnie White 2019 did it alittle bit differently as only Lonnie could, leading the Friars in rushing, passing and points. HOWEVER, Andrew Pellicciotta is the only player since 1982 to do it two seasons in a row, 2023 and 2024.

Another great year for All Inter-Ac as Malvern placed 18 players either on 1st or 2nd team.

The Malvern defense only gave up 90 points all year against one of the toughest schedules in SEPA, just missing Touchdown Club honors. Their two losses came against Roman Catholic (5A PIAA state finalist) and LaSalle who beat St. Joe Prep for the regular season Catholic League Red Championship. For the record, LaSalle also beat Roman and Monsignor Bonner. St. Joe won the 6A state title and Bonner won the 4A state title.

In Delaware, Salesianum finished 11-2. Their only other lost was to Middletown in the Class 3A state final. Going into their state final, Salesianum was ranked #1 in the state of Delaware. On the season they averaged 38 points a game. The Malvern defense held them to 3 points and 119 total yards on 54 plays. Not a bad night for the Friars.

In week 2 MP traveled to take on 4th ranked Delbarton. In a comeback for the ages, down 17-0 going into the 4th quarter, the Friars erupted for 27 unanswered pointsin 8 minutes to win 27-17. On the day the MP defense held the Green Wave to 70 yards rushing.

In Joe Carr’s defense, seven different players had at least one pic. Owen Mears led the way with 3 .And speaking of a Joe Carr defense, I will now go off on one of my stat tangents. DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE. I don’t know how else to put it other than to say the MP defense mauled the opposing team offenses. I knew the Malvern D had a really good Inter-Ac run but until I took my deep dive, I did not realize how dominant they were. GA 2.8 yards a play. EA 1.6 yards a play, HS 3.1 yards a play, PC 3.5 yards a play and CHA 2.2 yards a play. In these 5 games the rest of the IA totaled 610 yards of offense on 289 plays… against the whole team. That’s it, and that’s both running and passing. PC had the most with 153 yards total. EA was on the other end with 63 total yards. No team rushed for more than 89 yards. EA was held to a NEGATIVE 16 yards on 18 tries. In all 289 plays for 610 yards OR 2.67 yards per play. They shut out 3 of the 5 and only gave up 21 total points, that 4 points a game.

Leave no doubt. Joe Carr is one of the best DCs in the state.

The offense did their part as they averaged 37 points and 328 yards a game in the Inter-Ac. Three games were mercy rule (35 point spread). The offense totaled 1000 more yards than their IA opponents in those 5 games. The big skill up front pounded out 228 yards a game and the RBs chunked it up at 7.6 yards a clip.

When you win the title, make sure the other guys know they had no shot. This team made that statement.

The Friars won the Inter-Ac title for the 3rd time in 4 years. It was the team’s 27th outright title and 37th overall. The title continues to run through the Friars of Malvern Prep.
